Turns, the hotbar and auto battle

Who acts when, how the hotbar picks your action, auto battle and auto potion, and spending support turns well.

Who acts when

Every body in a battle has a turn bar that fills over time; when it is full, that body acts. DEX gives you a head start on the bar when the battle opens. Buffs and debuffs that change speed make a bar fill faster or slower, and crowd control can hold a body back.

Your hotbar

Only skills bound to your hotbar can be used in battle. Press a skill to make it your action: your character uses it when its turn comes, and keeps using it on the next turns. If that skill is cooling down or you cannot pay for it, the game tries your other bound skills from left to right. A skill with no cooldown can stay your standing choice all fight.

Auto battle

Auto battle plays your turns for you with your standing skill. You can also bind an item as the default, such as a trap for catching a companion. Under Settings, Automation:

  • Auto potion drinks a potion from your bag when your health or mana falls below the share you set. It works in auto battle only, and the drink costs the turn. 0% never drinks.
  • Auto sell turns gear at or below the quality you choose into Gold as it drops. It never sells purple, starred or gemmed gear.

Spend support turns deliberately

A heal costs a turn and mana even when the ally is already full. Keep a damage skill bound for farming and heal when it is needed. Check what an offensive buff costs you: some, like Holy Seal, lower your defence while they last.

Your companion's turns

The companion in Attack fights on its own turns, taking the skills on its bar next to your hotbar in turn: the first slot, then the second, and so on, starting again from the first. A slot it cannot use yet passes to the next one. Press one of its skills to move it to the first slot, so it is tried on the pet's next turn; drag to reorder. See Skills and books.
