Privacy Policy

Tamerland is operated by Ave Lumina. This page explains what we store, why we store it, and how to get rid of it. We keep as little as the game needs to run.

Tamerland has two addresses: the website at tamer.land (this page, the news and the blog) and the game itself at play.tamer.land, where you sign in and play. ops.tamer.land is our staff tool; no player signs in there and it collects nothing from you. This policy covers all three.

What we store

• Account: you sign in with Google or Discord; we never have a password of yours. What each gives us is set out below.
• Purchases: what you bought, when, and the order id from the payment provider. We never see or store your card or bank details.
• Game data: your characters, their position, level, inventory, guild, chat messages, game settings and anything else the world needs to remember between sessions.
• Technical logs: IP address, timestamps and error traces, written when you connect or when something goes wrong.

Sign in with Google

If you choose Sign in with Google, we ask Google only for the openid and email scopes. From your Google account we receive:

• your Google account id (a number that identifies you to us), and
• your email address and whether Google has verified it.

We do not receive or ask for your name, profile picture, contacts, Drive, Gmail, calendar or any other Google data, and we never get your Google password.

How we use it: the account id links your Google account to your Tamerland account so you can sign in; the email address is your account's contact address, used to reach you about your account and, if you buy something, sent to our payment provider as your receipt address. We use Google user data for nothing else: not for advertising, not for profiling, and not to train any AI or machine learning model.

Sharing: Google user data is not sold, rented or shared with anyone, except the payment provider as described above, our hosting provider that stores the database, and where the law requires it.

Storage and deletion: the Google account id and email address are kept in our database for as long as your Tamerland account exists. Write to the address below and we delete the account, and with it the Google account id and email address. You can also remove Tamerland's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.

Tamerland's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sign in with Discord

You can sign in with Discord, or link Discord to an account you made with Google. Either way we ask Discord only for the identify scope. From your Discord account we keep:

• your Discord user id (a number that identifies you to us), and
• your Discord display name, or your username if you have no display name.

We do not ask for your email address, servers, friends, messages or anything else, and we never get your Discord password. Discord's sign-in answer also includes your avatar and similar public profile details; we do not keep them.

How we use it: the user id links your Discord account to your Tamerland account so you can sign in, and limits how many Tamerland accounts one Discord account can hold, which keeps rewards fair. The name is shown as your account's name when you signed up with Discord, and, since such an account has no email address, it is sent to our payment provider in place of one when you buy something. Nothing else: not advertising, not profiling, not training any AI or machine learning model.

Sharing: Discord data is not sold, rented or shared with anyone, except the payment provider as described above, our hosting provider that stores the database, and where the law requires it.

Storage and deletion: the Discord user id and name are kept for as long as your Tamerland account exists and are deleted with it. Write to the address below to have the account deleted. You can also remove Tamerland's access at any time in Discord under User Settings → Authorized Apps.

Why we store it

To run your account, save your progress, keep one world consistent for everyone in it, and investigate abuse, cheating and crashes. That is the whole list. We do not build advertising profiles.

Cookies

One session cookie, set by the game at play.tamer.land when you sign in, so the server knows the browser is still you. The website at tamer.land sets no cookie. Neither is used for tracking, and there are no third party cookies on either.

Storage on your device

The game keeps your settings (language, key bindings, display and sound options) in your browser's local storage, and stores the game's pictures, maps and sounds (about 180 MB, less on a phone) in the browser's cache so it does not have to download them again every time you play. Clearing the site data for play.tamer.land in your browser removes both. Your game settings are also saved with your account, so they follow you to another device. The downloaded game files are never sent to us. When the game moved from tamer.land/play to play.tamer.land, your settings were carried over to the new address once, together with your sign-in, so you did not have to set them up again.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent or trade your data. There is no third party analytics, advertising or tracking script on the website or in the game. Data is shared only with the hosting provider that runs our servers, with our payment provider (Payman, over Midtrans) when you make a purchase, and where the law requires us to disclose it. A purchase sends the payment provider your account id, the item and price, and your email address (or your Discord name, for an account made with Discord).

How long we keep it

Account and character data is kept while the account exists. Technical logs are kept only as long as they are useful for debugging and abuse handling, then rotated out. Because Tamerland is in alpha, the database may be wiped entirely between builds.

Your choices

Write to the address below to see what we hold on your account, correct it, or have the account and its data deleted. Deletion is permanent and takes your characters with it.

Security

Traffic runs over an encrypted connection, sign-in is handled by Google or Discord, and access to the database is limited to the people who operate the game. No service is perfectly secure, and alpha software least of all.

Children

Tamerland is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete the account.

Changes

We may update this policy as the game develops. The date at the top changes when we do.
